What can you say about Dan Haren? He has not allowed more than three runs in any start this season and he is backed by a bullpen that has been pitching lights out as well. The A's have slid under the radar as everyone’s eyes are on the surging Yankees. The A's have put together quite a streak themselves. They have now won 10 of 12, and have given up just 25 runs in those 12 games - a bit over two per game. The bullpen has yielded just 1 run in their last 17.1 innings of work and more importantly, just 6 runs in Haren's last 8 starts. St. Louis has seen their bats come around a bit, but the pitching is about as bad as it gets right now. The Cards have allowed 53 runs in their last 6, good for just shy of nine er game, and have lost 5 of their last 7. The A's should be able to get Looper out early, as they have the third most BB's in the majors right now, and the Card’s pen has been horrific. The A's have pitched 4 shutouts in their latest 10-2 run and with Haren on the mound at home look for the A's to win the opener of this series.
