Interleague play gets underway today, but not for these clubs, as the in-balance of teams dictates a league matchup. The Cardinals should not be favored here, but to the oddsmakers it all comes down to Lance Lynn who is off to a great start with the Cards 6-1 in his seven starts. The bad news is that the loss occurred in his last start where he wasn't very sharp. The Dodgers have managed to be 16-4 at home on the season and three of those four losses were by a combined 4 runs, so they are in every game here. Going back to last year, Ted Lilly is 8-1 in his last nine starts with an ERA that trumps the good pitching of Lynn. Lilly carries a 1.59 ERA into this one over those last nine starts. It’s needless to say that runs will be at a premium, which is a good spot for the Dodgers at 21-6 in their last 27 with a total of 6.5 or less. The St. Louis offense is slowed on the road where they are 12-5 to the UNDER in their last 17, while the Dodgers are now 11-5 to the UNDER in series openers. Behind Lilly to a total of 6.5 or less, they are 5-1 to the UNDER in their last 6. Play on the Dodgers and the UNDER.
