Last year the St. Louis Cardinals went on a miraculous run that led them all the way to a World Series win over the Teas Rangers. Things have been far from that this season and their lead for the second wildcard spot has been diminished to a game and a half over the surging Brewers. The Cardinals have sunk to a 9-14 mark when they have needed it the most. Last night they let another one slip away vs. the Cubs, allowing 2 runs in the 9th, and losing in the 10th by a 5-4 score. The Cubs certainly have not quit. They have been lethal for contenders as a dog of late, and are on a 7-4 run in the role of a dog in their last 11. St. Louis has had even bigger problems on the road vs. a lefthander where they have dropped five straight. Wainwright's stuff has been negated by hitter-friendly Wrigley Field, where the Cardinals are just 1-4 in his last five starts here. Play on the Cubs.
