Chicago is improved on offense and actually hit St. Louis ace Adam Wainwright last season, allowing 32 hits in 32 innings for a 3.38 ERA, all above his season averages. Hopes are high in Chicago after a busy and important offseason. Chicago decided it was time to act after some of its prospects started to arrive in the majors, joining All-Stars Starlin Castro and Anthony Rizzo. The Cubs add one of the game's top managers in Joe Maddon, plus traded for center fielder Dexter Fowler, and catcher Miguel Montero. The biggest move was adding ace lefty Jon Lester, who goes here. Lester faced the Cardinals in the World Series two years ago and dominated. The Cubs are 12-5 in their last 17 home games vs. a right-handed starter. The fans will be sky high, so grab the home team with their bonafide ace in this opener that means a lot more to the home team than the visitors. Play the Cubs.
