They are in game two of a 10-game home stand, where they look to extend their division lead over Texas. They hand the ball to Jesse Chavez, who after seven big league seasons spent mostly in the bullpen, has turned into a very reliable starter at 2-1 with a microscopic 1.89 ERA on the season. Chavez shut the door on this same Seattle team earlier this season, allowing 1 earned run over six innings. The Mariners own a poor 48-105 record as a road dog of +151 to +200 in their last 153. Their nemesis has been right-handed pitching where they are a weak 10-26 in their last 36 when facing one. The A's are getting a big bounce off a loss as they are 40-19 in their last 59 when following a setback. Take Oakland in this one.
