The Seattle Mariners finally caved into the Yankee bats last night as they kept constant pressure on Morrow, and company, and the Bombers prevailed 8-5. The Mariners rely on pitching to win as their offense struggles night after night. Consider that Ken Griffey Jr. is hitting cleanup at .215 9 25 says all you need to know. The M's had their chance scoring five runs last night and the inconsistent offense has proven itself to be just that as they have been 25-55 after scoring five runs or more and overall they are just 16-35 in Washburn's last 51 starts and 0-5 in his last five as a road dog. The Yankees have often been thought of as a weak team against lefthand pitching, but that is on the road only. They are 116-48 in their last 164 at home vs southpaws! They are also 13-7 this season against lefthand pitching, scoring 5.8 runs a game. Mariners just 2-10 in last 12 vs Yankees, plenty of room here on the runline. I will go with New York on the runline.
