Seattle at Minnesota

The Minnesota Twins and Seattle Mariners are playing out the string, as both will be short of the playoffs. They will go with pitchers that have shown some promise, but for the most part have disappointed. Blake Beaven looked like he was going to be a huge addition to the Mariners’ rotation, as in his first nine starts he allowed more than 3 runs just one time. The league caught up with him, and in his last 11 starts he has allowed 4 runs or more in seven of them. Brian Duensing was touched-up for 9 runs in his last start, inflating his ERA, but he has certainly pitched a lot more competitively than Beaven lately. The Mariners are an ugly 0-7 when Beaven takes the ball against an opponent that scored 5 or more runs in their previous game. The Twins have a tremendous upside behind Duensing at home as a favorite where they are 15-3 in his last 18. Play on Minnesota.
