The Angels lok to John Lackey tonight and he's been lights out of late. Overall he has an outstanding 3.06 ERA but over his last three starts, it's 1.29 (21 innings with only 3 earned runs allowed). He opposes Gil Meche who has a 6.82 road ERA and pitches for a 10-17 road team. LA has the bullpen advantage as well with a 2.67 home ERA. The concern here is LA's bats as they've batted just .259 on the season. But, home favorites of -150 or more batting under .265 are an incredible 67-11 (86%) in June games over the last 5 seasons, You see, for a team that hits poorly to be favored in this way says something major about their pitching and/or the other team. Seattle is 13-40 on the road vs. a starting pitcher with an ERA of 4.00 or better over the last 3 seasons. They are also 1-17 as a road dog of +150 to +170 over that span. Seattle's going to struggle to manufacture runs here and we'll back the Angels.
