The Mariners simply get no respect. They have won nine straight and even with a six-game losing streak thrown into the mix, they are a major league best 29-12 in their last 41 games. Put the Yankee logo on the jersey and what is the moneyline on this game? It is hard to question the value. It is the hardest lineup in baseball to pitch to. They have eight players between 30-49 RBI - a real team. The back of their pen has been good. Their top four have worked 121 innings allowed just 81 hits, and has a combined ERA of 1.79. Felix Hernandez has the stuff to throw 0's at the Royals, and Gil Meche the same for KC, but the difference is the pen, where Seattle has a huge edge. Kansas City is a young and inconsistent team. They have a history of following a nice winning run with an extensive drought. They went on a nice 8-2 run early on, and followed it with a 2-10 mark. They ran off a 6-2 stretch and subsequently lost four straight. Their latest run was 5-0, and now they are 0-2 going into this game. Seattle is red hot, not just winning nine straight, but winning more than anyone in baseball over the last month and a half, and we like them tonight.
