Seattle at Kansas City

The Seattle Mariners are a long way from home playing a doubleheader, its sixth and seventh straight road games. With Felix Hernandez going on the shelf, the Mariners bring up Marco Gonzales (13.50 ERA) from Triple-A Tacoma. He has a 5.53 ERA in 12 Major League appearances (seven starts) and missed last year after having Tommy John surgery. The Kansas City Royals are on a nice homestand, in a pennant race, and on a 12-5 run. Kansas City is 114-70 as a favorite of -110 or higher. The Royals go with talented lefty Danny Duffy (3.42 ERA), who has a 2.25 ERA in seven appearances against Seattle, including a victory this season.
