The Seattle Mariners are off to a miserable start, and have the look of a team headed for another 100 loss season. They have Felix Hernandez on the mound tonight, but regardless, I question a line on a team destined and proven to be a 100 loss team as a favorite, because they lack in so many areas. They have proven that on the road, no matter how good Hernandez is, winning is a chore. The Mariners are 5-13 in Hernandez's last 18 road starts as a good example. The Tigers may be onto something, converting former Yankees lefty specialist Phil Coke into a starter. Coke has allowed a total of 4 runs in his three starts, and should fare well vs. the light-hitting Mariners. Mariners are 15-39 vs. a left-handed starter in their last 54, while the Tigers are 51-25 with a home total of 7-8.5. Hernandez’s road starts, with a total set from 7-8.5, have seen the UNDER deliver the cash to a 34-15-3 mark. We have a pitchers duel set here, so I’m playing the Tigers and the UNDER.
