Seattle at Chicago

Seattle is a .500 team that is a long way from home. The offensive problems that have weighed down this team the last two years are still present, 21st in team batting average, 16th in slugging and 19th in on-base percentage. They got just six hits yesterday in a 4-3 loss here. The Mariners starting pitcher, Hisashi Iwakuma, posted a 4.20 ERA away from home last season.  The Mariners are 4-9 in their last 13 road games and  8-20 against a team with a winning record. The White Sox have a winning record and are 24-11 in their last 35 home games vs. a right-handed starter. Young ace Chris Sale is off to a terrific start, fanning seven in seven plus innings in his first start with only one walk (and no runs allowed). He is 2-0 with a 2.55 ERA against light hitting Seattle and the White Sox are 7-1 in Sale's last eight starts as a home favorite. And the Mariners are 15-40 in the last 55 meetings in Chicago.
