The San Diego Padres were never in contention this year. Over the course of a long season, bad teams usually go on good runs. That was the case here as the Padres caught fire on their way to a 19-6 run over a 25-game stretch, but the fire is out. The Padres are back to being the Padres at just 3-6 since the run. They have to do battle with Ryan Vogelsong tonight who has allowed a total of 5 runs in his three starts vs. San Diego on the season. The Padres continue to give Andrew Werner a look in the rotation, but his last two starts were busts allowing 5 runs in each in less than nine total innings of work. The Giants have made quick work of lefties where they are 41-18 in their last 59, and get a very hittable one tonight. Play on San Francisco.
