San Francisco at San Diego

Despite the additions of Juan Soto and Josh Bell, San Diego has stopped hitting and the Padres lost their fifth in a row 1-0 to the Giants on Monday night. The Padres have scored only seven runs in the five games, including shutouts in the last two. Also, in the last three meetings with San Francisco the Padres have scored just one run. Alex Cobb starts for the Giants and he has pitched better than his record indicates, as he has allowed only 11 earned runs in 31 1/3 innings his last five outings. Cobb has faced the Padres once this year and gave up two runs on four hits in five innings. Joe Musgrove was hit hard his last start, allowing six runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings against Colorado. July was his worst month this season when he had a 4.24 ERA.
