San Francisco has won two straight while the White Sox have lost five in a row after Pablo Sandoval broke out of his slump and totaled four RBIs, including a three-run homer Friday night. Jeff Samardzija has allowed only three runs in 22 innings his last three outings and the Giants have won six of his last eight starts. Samardzija was 4-1 with a 3.05 ERA in August, which was his best month of the season. James Shields is 2-6 with a 5.72 and fortunate to still be pitching in the major leagues. Shields gave up four runs in 6 1/3 innings in a 5-3 loss to Cleveland on Monday and he has a 5.88 ERA at home this year and he is 0-5 with a 6.22 ERA since the All-Star break. Chicago has lost 41 of its last 58 games and their last five interleague home contests. Also, the White Sox are 5-23 after after scoring two or fewer runs in their previous game. Play the Giants.
