The San Francisco Giants are hot, but as Earl Weaver used to say, you're only as good as the next day's starting pitcher. In this case it's Matt Cain (0-5, 6.69 ERA), with the team 15-37 his last 52 starts. In 2016 batters are hitting .318 off him, allowing 33 hits and 20 runs his last four starts (23+ innings). He comes off a surprisingly good start against Toronto, but was aided by a cold and windy night at home. He has a 10.13 ERA on the road this season and is 2-12 with a 5.55 ERA away from home the last three-plus years. The team is also 6-23 when Cain faces an opponent with a losing record. Arizona is home with a strong offense, sixth in baseball in runs scored, #11 in on base percentage and fifth in slugging. Arizona starter Rubby De La Rosa (3.93 ERA) has won four of his last five decisions, including a victory over these Giants on April 18. He has allowed one run or fewer in three of his last four starts, including Tuesday’s win at Colorado, surrendering just one run with six strikeouts and one walk in 7+ strong innings. He pounded the zone, throwing 70% of his pitches for strikes, and recorded all but four of his outs via strikeout or ground ball. De La Rosa has been stellar in four appearances since being moved into the starting rotation, with a 2.08 ERA in 26 innings. He is also 4-1 with a 3.62 ERA in seven games versus San Francisco. When Arizona wins it's been by blowouts, with scores of 5-1, 10-5, 4-2, 7-2, 3-0, 12-7, 7-1, 6-2, 3-0 and 9-7 in 10 of its last 11 victories -- and three of those one-sided wins were in April when they took three of four at San Francisco. Play Arizona on the runline.
