San Francisco at Arizona

San Francisco had a lousy start to the season but has turned things around on an 11-7 run after beating Arizona to open this series yesterday, 6-2. The offense has moved up to 16th in runs scored and Top 10 in slugging. Reliever John Brebbia will start and throw 1-2 innings with an impressive 21-to-6 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 13+ innings followed by Ross Stripling, who has a 22-to-7 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 25+ innings. Last season with Toronto, Stripling held batters to a .229 average with a 111-to-20 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 134+ innings. San Francisco has won five of six against winning teams and is 55-22 versus opponents with a bullpen ERA of 4.70 or worse. Arizona has lost three straight, part of a 4-6 skid losing five times as a favorite. Arizona is 25th in team ERA (4.85) with all kinds of bullpen troubles ranked 26th in the pen (4.90 ERA). Batters are hitting .315 off starter Ryne Nelson, who has a 6.00 ERA both home and away. The team has lost six of his seven starts and the Diamondbacks are on a 17-39 run versus the Giants.
