San Francisco at Arizona

The defending champs are at Arizona after winning three of five games, including a 10-5 win yesterday, pounding out 15 hits. San Francisco is sixth in baseball in batting average and 12th in on base percentage. The Diamondbacks are in a bind today, going with 21-year old rookie Tyler Skaggs in Sunday’s rubber game after four relievers threw a combined 5 1/3 innings on Saturday. That's a lot to ask of the kid with 11 innings and a 3.86 ERA in two starts. The Diamondbacks are 2-5 in Skaggs' last seven starts. He lost his only career start against the Giants on Sept. 14, 2012 when he gave up five runs over four innings.  The Giants are 25-12 following a win and 47-23 against the NL West. The Giants go with Chad Gaudin (1-1, 2.21 ERA), who has been sharp. The Giants are 4-1 the last five meetings, and Arizona is 2-8 in its last 10 games against the Giants at Chase Field.
