San Diego at Washington

Washington snapped a three-game losing streak in a big way with a 10-2 win over the Padres. Nineteen-year-old Juan Soto hit a three-run homer in a five-run second inning and it came on the first pitch of his first career start. The Nationals banged out 15 hits to improve to 14-5 their last 19 games. San Diego dropped to 20-29 and the Padres are in last place in the NL West, which is a familiar spot for them. Jeremy Hellickson has been a pleasant surprise for the Nationals as he has a 2.20 ERA in six starts and they have won four of his six outings, including 6-4 over Arizona on May 13 when he allowed a run on three hits in five innings. Hellickson has given up just two runs in 11 innings at home this season. Eric Lauer has an 8.14 ERA for the Padres and he has allowed 10 runs on 13 hits his last seven innings pitched and San Diego has lost four of his five starts.
