Scherzer is 10-6 with a 2.94 ERA and has allowed just three runs his last four starts, covering 27 1/3 innings. He actually has pitched better than his record as Washington has scored a total of seven runs the last four times Scherzer has started and his team lost. Edwin Jackson has played for 11 teams now that the Padres have picked him up and he allowed three runs in six innings against San Francisco on Sunday. Jackson has a 4.76 ERA with the Padres and the Marlins where he pitched in relief before going on the disabled list. Washington is 17-6 its last 23 home games against teams with losing records.
