San Diego at St. Louis

St. Louis had 13 hits in a 10-2 win last night and the Padres now are 18-27 on the road. Carlos Martinez has produced eight good outings in a row. Although, due to lack of run support, he has only four wins to his credit in that time. Martinez has allowed nine runs in his last 54 1/3 innings with 98 strikeouts. In his last start at Milwaukee, Martinez struck out 11 batters in five innings. Colin Rea is 5-3, but with a 4.95 ERA. Unlike Martinez, he has been getting plenty of runs, including a 13-6 San Diego win at Arizona on July 6 when Rea didn't make it out of the fifth inning. Rea has given up three runs and seven hits in five innings versus the Cardinals this season and his road ERA is 5.52. San Diego has lost 16 of its last 21 games against right-handed starters.
