Andrew Cashner has pitched better than his record indicates as he has had two bad starts in his eight appearances while not giving up more than three runs in his other six games. The right-hander came off the disabled list due to a hamstring injury and threw six strong innings at San Francisco before the bullpen gave it up in an 8-2 loss. Cashner has a 3.46 ERA against Seattle and a 3.18 ERA in Interleague action in his career. Nathan Karns threw 89 pitches in five innings in a 6-5 win over Oakland on Tuesday. Seattle is batting just .241 at home this season and the Mariners are 10-14 at Safeco Field and 18-7 on the road. San Diego is a better hitting team on the road than it is at Petco Park.
