The Padres were the talk of baseball last year as they were expected to do nothing then won 90 games. It looks like a smoke and mirrors year, as they are heading for 90 in the loss column this year. Surprisingly, the Mariners have risen from the ashes of 101 losses a year ago to be straddling the .500 mark most of the season. What the Padres got from their rotation last year, the M's are getting this year. The Mariners have been interleague kings vs. left-handers at 36-15 in their last 51, including 20-7 at home. The other side of the spectrum shows that San Diego is a dismal 11-29 as an interleague dog in their last 40, and stopping in Seattle has not been the cure where they have dropped their last five. Seattle gets the money in this one.
