It looked like the same old story in San Diego when the Padres started the season at 5-15. Things have certainly changed since then, as the Padres have been on a tear going 30-19 over their last 49 to move over the .500 mark. Last year the Giants went all the way to a World Series crown, but have limped through 68 games at a pedestrian 35-33, and just 12-18 over their last 30. Barry Zito looked to be on his way to his best season in a Giant's uniform when he allowed one run or less in his first seven starts, but it has been all downhill since as he has carried the burden of a 7.14 ERA in his last six starts. The Padres are playing well, and should be able to take advantage of the faltering Zito. Play on the dog, and back San Diego.
