Both these teams have been better on the road than at home and San Diego gets to go with their ace, Mat Latos. Latos got off to a rough start to the season, but he has been in a groove, showcasing last year’s ace form with a 3.44 ERA in his last three starts. He has struck out 20 with just six walks in those last three starts. The Padres are 5-0 in their last five road games against a team with a losing record. He faces a terrible Pittsburgh offense, one that is 25th in runs, 23rd in on-base percentage and 27th in slugging. The Pirates have a better road record than home mark, just 26-31 at home and go with Kevin Correia, who has been in a funk with an 11.08 ERA his last three starts. Throw in a 4.71 ERA for the season and he’s been weak since opening day. The Pirates are 3-14 in their last 17 overall and 0-7 in their last seven games vs. a right-handed starter. Play the Padres!
