San Diego at Minnesota

Minnesots is home following a six-game trip and that is good news for the Twins, who are 10-6 at home this season compared to 9-10 on the road, and they still lead the AL Central by 2 1/2 games. The Twins will start Louie Varland, who will be making third appearance this season and they won his first start before losing 6-4 to the White Sox on Wednesday when he allowed four runs in 4 2/3 innings. Michael Wacha goes for San Diego and he has been inconsistent although he does come off six shutout innings against Cincinnati which lowered his ERA to 5.46. The Padres scored only three runs in losing their past two games to the Dodgers and Minnesota averages 5.25 runs at home versus right-handers and 4.95 overall at Target Field.
