San Diego is seeking a repeat of the 2022 NLDS when the Padres defeated the Dodgers in four games in an upset. This year, the teams are much closer on paper than two years ago, and the Padres come into the match having won 13 of their past 17 games, including a two-game sweep of Atlanta in the Wild Card Round. They also have Dylan Cease on the mound, and San Diego has won 10 of his past 14 starts, and he allowed only ten runs in 30 1/3 innings in September. Cease faced Los Angeles twice this year and gave up four runs on eight hits in 10 2/3 innings. Yoshinobu Yamamoto made two starts against the Padres and gave up eight runs on eight hits in only six innings.
