The San Diego Padres wind up a lost season about to get swept by Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers. The Padres' starting lineup yesterday had only two players with more than three years of big-league service time, thanks to injuries to outfielders Matt Kemp, Wil Myers, and Justin Upton. San Diego is 3-13 away against a team with a winning record and on a 1-5 run overall. Padres lefty Frank Garces (5.00 ERA) is a reliever making his first career start here. His numbers are ugly, he's allowed eight homers and 20 walks in 36 innings, has posted a 9.39 ERA since the All-Star break, and is allowing right-handed hitters to bat .316. Los Angeles' offense is 11th in slugging and fifth in on-base percentage. Ace Clayton Kershaw (16-7, 2.16 ERA) is off a one-hit win with 13 strikeouts to help the Dodgers clinch the division title. He is also 12-6 with a 2.29 ERA in 26 all-time starts against the Padres. The Dodgers are on a 4-1 run, plus 42-16 at home against a team with a losing record. Dodger Stadium has been a house of horrors for the Padres, 5-16 in this park as well as 13-32 overall against the Dodgers. Los Angeles' last three games against San Diego last month were all wins by scores of 5-1, 2-0, and 8-4. This one will be no different. Play the Los Aangeles Dodgers on the RunLine.
