A surprising losing streak by the New York Mets has opened the door for the Los Angeles Dodgers to potentially claim home-field advantage next week. Into town comes a San Diego team long since out of it. The Padres are a bad road team and a worse offensive one at #24 in runs scored, and dead last in on-base percentage. Starter Casey Kelly is young and has been hit, with a 9.00 ERA. The Padres are 2-7 against a team with a winning record and 1-5 in Kelly's last six starts. Los Angeles owns the second-best home record in majors and has a strong offense - fourth in on-base percentage. The Dodgers are 40-16 at home against a team with a losing record. Dodgers lefty Alex Wood (3.89 ERA) has won 11 games on the year and has been strong at home posting a 2.36 ERA at Dodger Stadium. San Diego is 3-7 against southpaws and the Padres are on a 5-14 run at Dodger Stadium, so jump on the motivated and far better home team. Play Los Angeles.
