The San Diego Padres have matured as a team. They have received very solid pitching, and excellent work out of the pen. If this team had an extra bat or two in the lineup they would be a contender. They have played much better over the last quarter of a season, posting a 23-17 mark over their last 40 games. The Padres play a lot of low-scoring games. They are by far the team that features the lowest scoring games in baseball, and it has translated in the totals results that show them 85-49-5 to the UNDER on the season. Yes, they are playing in Colorado, but the total is still way too high here. Consider that San Diego has only played 27 games the entire season out of 139 that have seen both teams combine to score 10 runs or more, so the total certainly looks to be a bit robust here. San Diego has been at their best when they face a mediocre pitcher as they are 19-7 in their last 26 games vs. a pitcher with a WHIP of 1.30 or higher. The Rockies have been absolutely horrid opening a series where they have stumbled to a 6-23 record in their last 29, and their 3-11 mark in Matzek's last 14 starts does not bode well for them here either. Play on San Diego and the UNDER in this one.
