The San Diego Padres opened the season a dreadful 5-15 and it appeared through 20 games that this team would play themselves out of contention by the quarter pole. They have rebounded nicely to play seven games over .500 since, and remarkably sit just 2.5 games off the pace in the NL West. Boston is the top dog in the AL East, winning five of their last six contests. Robbie Erlin is just 22-years-old, and a top prospect for the Padres, has a 2.77 ERA in his two starts on the season, and has proven to be more than capable of keeping San Diego in the game. San Diego has come out on top of their last seven series openers, and Lackey has led the Red Sox to just one win in his last five starts in a series lid-lifter. Play on San Diego.
