Matt Latos had a huge season a year ago, finishing with a 2.92 ERA. He is well off that pace this season carrying an ERA that is nearly a full run larger, but he has been a lot closer to last season down the stretch than any time prior this year. Latos in his last 13 starts has allowed more than 3 runs just once, so the Padres have a very good chance of being in this one late. Daniel Hudson has won 15 games, and has emerged along with Ian kennedy to propel the D-Backs to the top rung in the NL West. San Diego has played better on the road than they have at home on the season. Latos is a quality pitcher, and the results bear that out with the Padres winning six of his last eight starts vs. a winning team. San Diego gets the call.
