Pittsburgh lost its third straight and has scored only six runs in those games. The Pirates now are 21-40 on the road as its young squad is running out of gas in the long season. San Francisco is having a little resurgence as it seeks to make a run for a Wild-Card berth, and the Giants have won five of seven after Saturday's 2-0 victory when Lamonte Wade, Jr. homered to back Logan Webb, who pitched eight scoreless innings. Alex Wood will try to match that as he comes off 6 1/3 shutout innings on three hits against San Diego on Monday. Zach Thompson is 3-9 with a hefty 5.08 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP for the Pirates, who have lost seven of his last nine starts. The Giants have won five of the last six meetings, and they are 42-20 their past 62 games against teams with .400 or below winning percentages. The Pirates are 16-41 in their past 57 road games against left-handed starters. Take the Giants.
