Pittsburgh at San Diego

Game of the Month: San Diego finally beat Pittsburgh 5-1 after losing the first four meetings this season as Manny Machado, Juan Soto and Gary Sanchez each homered and the Pirates were held to three hits. Johan Oviedo is 3-11 and the Pirates have lost his past eight starts and he is 1-6 with a 5.26 ERA on the road. Pittsburgh is 0-7 in Oviedo's past seven starts versus a team that scored at least five runs its previous game and the Padres have won eight of nine as home favorites of -151 to -200. Seth Lugo has allowed more than three runs just once his past six starts and he held Detroit to two runs on six hits in six innings in a 5-4 win on Friday. Pittsburgh has fallen into last place in the NL Central after starting off fast this season as its young team appears to be running out of gas. Play the Padres as my July Game of the Month.
