Can you believe that the lowly Pirates are better in terms of record than the Mets with close to 1/3 of the season behind us? There are a couple reasons why. The Mets lost their two most productive hitters to injuries in David Wright and Ike Davis. The Pirates pitching has really held them in a lot of games and most recently the Pirates staff has held opponents in check with a high degree of frequency. The Pirates staff has not allowed any team more than 4 runs in their last 11 games. The average has been just a tick above 2. The Pirates are on a 34-13-5 run to the UNDER in their last 52 series openers, while the Mets are dealing four straight UNDERs at home vs. a team with a losing record. The UNDER is my call.
