Justin Verlander flirted with his third career no-hitter last night, but surrendered a hit with 1 out in the 9th inning, on his way to a complete-game shutout, striking out two. There lies the problem for an improved Pirates team, as the improvements have been made on the mound, but not in the lineup. That has allowed the Pirates to play just 11 of their 39 games on the season OVER the total. The Tigers are hitting inconsistently all season and have already scored 3 runs or less on 19 occasions this season, and after a win they have gone 12-4 to the UNDER in their last 16. These teams have had trouble battling at the plate vs. each other’s pitching, as the last seven meetings in Detroit has seen none of them eclipse the total. Play the UNDER.
