The Pirates are definitely improving, but their track record on the road is hard to justify the posted odds here, especially playing in a difficult place. James McDonald has had a breakout season for the Pirates at 9-3, but his road work shows that he allows 2.3 runs more per game than he does at home, and this park is certainly anything but pitcher-friendly. The Rockies are trying to get the wheels back on Jeremy Guthrie, and his first three starts show that he has not allowed more than 3 runs in any of them. The Pirates are just 65-140 on the road in their last 205 when facing a right-hander. They have also struggled to totals from 9 to 10.5 on the road at 32-70. The Rockies are 5-2 after scoring 2 or less, and Guthrie has delivered the money to a 4-1 mark when facing an opponent that scored 5+ in their last game. Play on Colorado.
