The Texas Rangers scored 10 runs yesterday, but fell to the Phillies 14-10. Yu Darvish starts the season on the DL, and the Texas rotation is thin because of it. The bull pen imploded yesterday - not a good sign for things to come. A.J. Burnett needed out of New York, and had a brilliant stint with the Pirates. He finished last season averaging 9.8 strikeouts per nine innings for a career best. Martin Perez remains a question mark off a pedestrian 11-10 mark a year ago with a 4.05 ERA, and had an awful spring pitching to a 6.23 ERA. The Phillies have had success vs. left-handed pitching. Going back to last season, they are 7-1 in their last eight when facing a southpaw. The Rangers' loss yesterday leaves them at 0-4 in their last four interleague games, and their bullpen will be needed today -which is not an encouraging sign. Take Philly.
