The Phillies are red hot winning six straight, and stand 16-7 in their last 23, averaging over six runs a game in the process, and are simply out-hitting their suspect pitching. They have pounded the Cardinals’ staff to the tune of 45 runs in the five meetings this season, or nine a game. Jamie Moyer pitches just well enough to have led the Phillies to an 18-12 record in his 30 starts. The Phillies are 12-2 in his starts when they score six runs or more, and they certainly have been doing a lot of hitting lately. The Cards have packed it in. They have been the worst team in baseball down the stretch as their 1-12 mark would indicate. The Cards have scored three runs or less an amazing 73 times this season! The offense is just not there. Adam Wainwright has pitched ok, but the Cards have lost his last two starts as well, and this team has folded down the stretch. The Phillies smell blood, are feeling good and will complete the sweep tonight.
