St. Louis is looking to avenge a three-game sweep by the Phillies in late August and the Cardinals have shown some life lately winning seven of their past 10 games, including two straight over first-place Baltimore while allowing only two runs. Zack Thompson gets the call tonight and St. Louis has won his past four starts and he has not allowed more than three runs in any of them. Thompson went five innings against Cincinnati on Saturday and gave up three runs on five hits in a 4-3 win. Aaron Nola is 12-9 and he has been hit hard his past two outings allowing 11 runs on 15 hits in only nine innings. The Phillies are just .500 on the road in 2023.
