Philadelphia is desperate to end its longest losing streak of the year after a 6-5 loss in 10 innings to the Mariners on Saturday night. Fortunately for the Phillies they have Zack Wheeler starting today and he is 10-5 with a 2.94 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP and they have won 12 of his past 17 outings. Wheeler will be looking to bounce back from a rare bad performance against the New York Yankees on Monday, but he threw seven shutout innings on three hits his previous start against Minnesota. Logan Gilbert has been torched for 12 runs (eight earned) his past 9 1/3 innings his past two starts, including a 14-7 loss to Boston on Monday. Gilbert had a 4.60 ERA in July when he allowed 19 runs (15 earned) in 29 1/3 innings. Take the Phillies.
