The San Francisco Giants have taken a 2-1 lead in the NLCS on the terrific pitching performance by Matt Cain. Cain shutout the Phillies for seven innings on two hits and the bullpen completed the deal. Madison Bumgarner gets the ball tonight and he has been equally impressive. Since allowing seven runs to the Reds on August 25th, Bumgarner has not allowed more than two runs in each of his last seven starts, which include a win vs Atlanta in the NLDS. It has all equated to a 1.43 ERA. His solid pitching has also led to the Giants playing to a 14-5 mark to the UNDER in his 19 starts on the season. The season has not been as impressive for Joe Blanton, who finished with an ERA of 4.82 and only made a relief appearance vs the Braves. The Phillies have put up a 12-4-1 mark to the UNDER in their last 17 road games vs a team with a home winning percentage topping the .600 mark. The Giants pitching has led them to a 10-3-1 mark to the UNDER in their last 14 overall and have the edge on the mound tonight as well as the home field and momentum. The last seven between these clubs in San Francisco has seen five of six go to the Giants as well as five of the last seven failing to reach the total. I like San Francisco and the UNDER in this one.
