Philadelphia at Detroit

Detroit has recovered to win six of its last seven games after losing 10 of 11 which put manager Brad Ausmus's job in jeopardy. The Tigers have averaged 6.9 runs during the run, and they come off a 9-4 win over Tampa Bay while compiling 13 hits. Mike Pelfrey's free agent signing appeared to be a bust, but the right-hander has produced two decent outings in a row allowing four earned runs in 10 2/3 innings, and walking three batters. Vince Velasquez won his last start against Miami, but he threw 103 pitches in five innings of work. And in his two previous appearances, he allowed eight runs and 12 hits in 12 innings. Velasquez has a 0.74 ERA at home and 4.13 on the road. Detroit is fifth in the Majors with a .783 OPS against righties and has won five of its last six games versus right-handed starters.
