Oakland isn't playing like a team in a pennant race, losing seven of nine. They lost four of those games as chalk. Toronto won yesterday, 5-4, and with the loss, Oakland fell a full game behind Texas in the race for the AL West title. Toronto has had a hand in the A's slide, winning three of five match-ups between the teams over the past two weeks. The Athletics are 0-8 in their last eight games as an underdog. Oakland is 3,000 miles from home and goes with A.J. Griffin (10-8), who likes the big park at home he pitches in, but is saddled with a 4.19 ERA on the road where he has allowed 17 of his 28 homers. The Athletics are 2-5 in Griffin's last seven road starts. Toronto may be in last place, but they can smoke the ball, sixth in baseball in runs scored, 13th in on base percentage, and fourth in slugging. The Blue Jays have R.A. Dickey going, and they are 7-3 in Dickey's last 10 starts while the Athletics are 2-5 in the last seven meetings. Play the Blue Jays.
