It is the time of year where the good teams trying to wrap things up have to face inflated numbers from the oddsmakers, and such is the case here. Colby Lewis pitched reasonably well a year ago, but has slipped some this season as his ERA has swollen by a half run per start. He has really struggled of late allowing 20 earned runs in his last three starts, and the Rangers have now lost five of his last eight on the hill. Brandon McCarthy has been a shining light in another dismal season for the A's, and lately he has pitched his best baseball of his career leading the A's to eight wins in his last 10 starts. While Lewis isn't on his game, historically he has been even worse pitching with extended five days of rest. The Rangers own a horrible 7-17 mark in his last 24 on five days of rest.
