There may be something to lean from the film Money Ball, as the Oakland A's always seem to be better than the sum of their parts, and this year is no exception. The Rays have been hit, but Alex Cobb has been the weak link in a strong rotation. His last time out certainly didn't do a lot for the young pitcher's confidence, as he surrendered 8 runs, and did not get out of the 3rd inning. The A's continue to perform late in the season and have not faded, in fact they have won 7-of-8 coming into this one. The area they have been most lethal is vs. right-handed pitching where they are an amazing 28-8 in their last 36, and certainly face a hittable one tonight. The Rays are losers of five straight Cobb starts when facing an opponent that scored 5+ in their previous game. Play on Oakland.
