Seattle won a crucial game on Sunday when Mitch Haniger hit a go-ahead single in a four-run eighth and the Mariners won 5-1 over the Angels to stay two games behind in the Wild Card race. Oakland is three games back and will go with Cole Irvin in tonight's matchup, and he has had his troubles with the Mariners this season allowing 14 runs on 29 hits in only 16 2/3 innings for a 7.56 ERA. Also, Irvin has a 5.75 ERA in September with a .318 opponent batting average. Seattle has won six of Chris Flexen's last eight starts, including a 4-1 victory over Oakland on Wednesday when he gave up just a run on three hits in seven innings.
