Oakland at Seattle

Oakland played about as well as it can and still got swept in a three-game series against the Yankees, including Wednesday's 5-3 loss when the Athletics scored three in the first and no more and lost 5-3. Oakland now is 25-52 on the season and firmly entrenched in last place in the AL West and now the Athletics head to Seattle and the Mariners have won seven of their last nine, including their last two against Baltimore. Seattle beat the Orioles 9-3 on Wednesday as Julio Rodriguez hit his 12th homer and the Mariners scored six runs in the fourth inning. Logan Gilbert is 8-3 with a 2.44 ERA and 1.09 WHIP and Seattle has won five of his last six starts. Gilbert has allowed only nine earned runs in 35 2/3 innings at home this season and he owns a 2.73 ERA in five starts in June. The Mariners have won eight of the last 10 meetings and Oakland is 7-22 versus AL West teams and it has lost 11 of its last 15 road games overall. Take the Mariners.
