Oakland at San Francisco

San Francisco is very tough at home, but today I like Oakland. The Giants are all about their pitching. They certainly haven't done it with offense this season. They have amassed a 12-5 home record despite averaging only 3.0 runs per game here! Their aces have delivered that record and they don't have one today. Jonathan Sanchez is mediocre and his 3-3 record reflects that. He'll be facing a better pitcher in Gio Gonzalez today. Gonzalez has a 2.31 ERA and 5-2 record to show for it. The sun does wonders for this Oakland team as they are 46-27 since last season in day games. That includes a 15-6 mark with Gonzalez toeing the rubber. San Francisco is just 3-12 the past two seasons after a 4+ game win streak. I like Oakland to win. I also really like the UNDER here (my May MLB Game of the Month). In his last three starts, Gio Gonzalez has allowed just 4 earned runs in 21 innings, while striking out nearly 1 batter per inning. Backing him up is a bullpen that owns a 2.13 road ERA this season. Jonathan Sanchez has been average at best. But if he doesn't last long, the Giants bullpen will take over and it has posted a 2.32 home ERA this season. With the Athletics averaging 3.1 runs per game on the road and San Francisco averaging 3.0 at home, runs will be at an extreme premium here. This season, Oakland is 12-1 UNDER vs. a team with a good bullpen (3.33 ERA or better). They are also 10-2 UNDER on the road this year vs. poor power teams like SF (those averaging under one home run per game). And, the A's are 21-9 UNDER since last season on the road in day games. San Francisco is 18-8 UNDER this season vs. losing teams while Oakland is 6-1 UNDER in their last seven on the road vs. winning teams. San Francisco has seen their last seven home games go UNDER and today I thin it makes eight. Take the A's and the UNDER here.
