The Los Angeles Angels added some big pieces and expected to win the AL West. They have not only fallen short, but the A's have been surprisingly the better team, trailing Texas now by just three games. The A's have the second best record in the AL, and are here to stay. The A's are white-hot having gone 20-5 in their last 25 games. They have been hitting, but the pitching has held 9 of the 25 opponents to 1 run or less. The have also won the first two in this series vs. the Halos. A.J Griffin has been a big part of the surge as he is 5-0 with a 2.21 ERA, and has become a top-of-the-rotation pitcher for Oakland. The same can't be said for Ervin Santana who is 8-11 with a 5.21 ERA for the Angels, and that is reduced to 4-11 when he starts vs. a winning team. The A's are punishing right-hand pitching to the tune of 39-12 in their last 51. Play on Oakland.
